Of LIght, Love, and Film: February Red

I played with Portra 400 this month. It has been so busy, I have hardly shot much film or digital! We did enjoy gorging ourselves on candy though! I think I like this film, but I have a feeling I will love it more when I can get it outside and capture some spring flowers!

Once you get done looking at my daughter's disgusted faces, you can head over to the blog of my sweet friend, Leslie!
The Queen Anne Cherries were NOT a hit. :)

Of light, love, and film: January Cold

It was COLD this month. We spent many a night sitting in front of the fireplace with hot cocoa and dandelion coffee. :)

This month I have images from my Holga, Speed Graphic 4x5, and 35mm. I used Tri-x, Tmax, and Arista films. My time spent developing was a trial in patience, but rewarding for all the lessons I learned. I think I can add a dozen things NOT to do while processing, like eating olives or talking on the phone. I also learned that processing 4x5 film is so much easier than 35mm, except for  the fact that one shot takes 20 minutes to set up. :)

My love affair with scraggly trees marches on as well!

When you are finished perusing my post you can jump over to the lovely Megan Dill's blog and see her vision of this cold, winter month. :)

Light, Love, and Film: December Grain

This month's theme was all about our holiday festivities.

We have a winter green house and December is the time to harvest Pac Choi and plant new cold-loving greens. :) We also made lots of cookies and let the dog steal our hats while sledding! :)

I am going to admit that I botched a couple of rolls.  I guess that is what I get for forgetting to push two rolls during processing, haha! :( I did get some of our planting, sledding, and baking so thank you for stopping by to see them. :)

Have fun looking and then stop by and savor the holiday goodness from my film-loving friend, Jo Clark!

Minnie kept stealing Anni's hat! ...over and over and over...
Tristan made pretzels all by himself. :)
We had some more escapades in the sledding department...
We tried, and failed, to make a real gingerbread house. They did enjoy eating it though!

....and we celebrated Yeshua as the Light  and Savior of the world!

For the Love of Film

I LOVE film. It is like chem lab meets art fair.  I find so much satisfaction in shooting a roll of Tri-X and then swishing chemicals in my kitchen. It always gives me a thrill to unload the  tank and see the negatives for the first time. This is the time when I usually start messing things up though....dust, scratches, cats who think negatives bat around well. :) No matter though, it is still fun and a great way for me to capture my everyday without feeling the need to post process. I love digital imagery so much, but it requires a different type of work. I must create after I create and that is sometimes laborious and well, not fun. Film gives me permission to just capture the moment and let the chips fall where they may.

So here are some of my favorite images from the last month that I developed with my kiddos. Thank you so much for stopping by and please continue on with out Film-Loving circle by stopping by the blog of The wonderful and sweet Jo Clark!

The most beautiful sight in the world....kids cleaning!
This was a full blown sick day...:(
Our farm looked like black birds were attacking!
My bed looks like this every. single.day...
...and the bean bag pic a little bigger. No, they will NEVER do that  again. I don't even remember taking the picture because I was yelling at her the whole time. We had thrown this bean bag out, but the kids had other ideas. Who needs the ladder?
